Create your best life
Empower your mind transform your life with life coaching
Grounded. Direct. Thoughtful.
Therapy that builds clarity, confidence, and direction.
Paul Chiariello, a NYC therapist, works with adults and couples, and I lead structured men’s therapy groups for those seeking greater clarity, confidence, and direction. Many of the people I work with are capable, reflective, and responsible in their careers and relationships, yet feel stuck repeating the same emotional or relational patterns.
My approach is grounded and collaborative. We identify the patterns shaping your reactions, relationships, and decisions, then work actively to shift them. Insight matters, but lasting change requires practice, structure, and honest examination.
Whether in individual sessions or in group, the work is focused without being rigid. As understanding deepens, we translate it into real-world action so growth becomes visible in daily life, not just in conversation.
Why this approach works
When insight needs to become action
Many people come to therapy after trying to think their way through their difficulties. Insight is important, but understanding alone does not always shift long-standing patterns. My work integrates schema therapy, cognitive and dialectical behavior therapies, mindfulness, and emotionally focused approaches. That allows us to address both the emotional roots of a problem and the behaviors that keep it going. Some sessions focus on emotional processing. Others emphasize skill building, communication, or regulating intense reactions. The approach adjusts based on what is most useful at that moment, so therapy stays active and relevant rather than repetitive.
Men’s Group Therapy
Structured growth alongside other men.
Paul leads three ongoing men’s therapy groups each week, two on Tuesday evenings and one on Wednesday evening. These groups are designed for men seeking stronger self-esteem, healthier relationships, and greater clarity in their careers and personal direction. Many members are high-functioning professionally but feel uncertain about identity, emotional expression, or how they show up in close relationships. Group therapy offers something individual work cannot fully replicate. You receive direct feedback from other men. You see your relational patterns unfold in real time. You practice communicating more clearly and responding differently under pressure. The groups are structured and guided. Conversations do not drift. Over time, members build emotional range, steadiness, accountability, and a clearer sense of direction. INQUIRE ABOUT MEN’S GROUP
Professional Background
A foundation in psychology, education, and conflict resolution
Before becoming a psychotherapist, I worked in sociology research, conflict resolution, and curriculum development in both domestic and international contexts. After completing a Fulbright in Indonesia and earning a Master of Science in Sociology of Education from the University of Oxford, I worked with humanitarian organizations and research institutions in post-conflict settings, including Uganda, Bosnia, and India. These experiences shaped how I think about identity, belief systems, resilience, and the complexity of human systems. I later earned my Master of Social Work from Columbia University and completed advanced clinical training in evidence-based psychotherapy.

Frequently asked questions
01 Who is your work especially helpful for?
I often work with adults who are capable and high-functioning but feel frustrated by repeating emotional or relational patterns. Many are navigating ADHD, ASD Level 1, anxiety, anger, identity development, or relationship strain.
I also work closely with men seeking greater confidence, emotional range, and clarity in both relationships and career.
02 Do you work with individuals as well as couples?
Yes. I work with adult individuals and couples. I also lead structured men’s therapy groups.
03 Is men’s group therapy right for me?
Men’s group therapy is often a strong fit for men who want accountability, feedback, and real-time relational practice.
Many members are successful professionally but struggle with confidence, emotional expression, or relationship dynamics. Group offers structure and direct interaction that individual therapy cannot fully replicate.
If you are unsure whether group or individual work is the better starting point, we can discuss that before you commit.
04 What does a typical session feel like?
Sessions are collaborative and active. We explore emotional patterns and also focus on practical steps that shift how you respond in real situations. The tone is direct and thoughtful, not abstract or unstructured.
05 What approaches do you use?
My work draws heavily from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, schema therapy, and emotionally focused approaches.
ACT and CBT are particularly helpful when someone wants practical tools alongside deeper pattern work. They allow us to build psychological flexibility, reduce avoidance, and change unhelpful thinking patterns while staying connected to values and long-term direction.
The goal is not just understanding. It is behavioral and emotional movement.
06 Are sessions online or in person?
All sessions are conducted online using a secure platform. This allows therapy to remain consistent and integrated into daily life.
07 Do you work with ADHD or ASD Level 1?
Yes. I work with adults navigating ADHD and ASD Level 1, particularly when those patterns affect relationships, emotional regulation, organization, or self-esteem.
Therapy can focus on executive functioning skills, emotional awareness, communication patterns, and reducing the shame that often develops around neurodivergence. The work is structured and practical while still addressing deeper identity questions.
08 Who can you work with legally?
I work with adults and couples, and I lead structured men’s therapy groups for those seeking greater clarity, confidence, and direction. Many of the people I work with are capable, reflective, and responsible in their careers and relationships, yet feel stuck repeating the same emotional or relational patterns.

09 Are you in-network with insurance panels?
Fit matters. Some people are drawn to a therapist’s depth of training. Others value having someone who can think flexibly and guide the work with clarity.
If you are looking for therapy that is active, collaborative, and grounded in evidence, and you want change that carries into daily life, this approach is often a good match.
10 How long does therapy usually take?
The timeline depends on your goals, the patterns involved, and whether you are participating in individual, couples, or group therapy.
Early sessions focus on assessment and goal clarification so the work has direction. Progress is reviewed regularly so therapy remains focused rather than open-ended.
Clarity builds confidence.
Work in a structured, thoughtful setting where insight leads to action. Therapy designed to strengthen self-awareness, relationships, and purposeful direction.
